The Young Educators Society (YES) offers scholarships each year to both high school and college students who have displayed good academic skills and strong leadership qualities as member of YES Chapters. This scholarship was originally established by Charles D. Moody Jr. to encourage young people to enter into the teaching profession. The YES Executive Board currently offers multiple Teacher Education Scholarships on a competitive basis to YES Chapter members and university applicants who support the YES mission and who have met the criteria listed below.
I. High School Recipients must have:
  • been a member of a YES Chapter for at least two years
  • made a significant contribution to the Chapter
  • demonstrated leadership and academic skills
  • been active in school and community activities
  • high academic standing
II. All applications must be accompanied by:
  • an essay expressing goals and aspirations of the applicant relative to education and teaching
  • two letters of recommendation, one from someone in the community and one from someone in the school
  • a copy of the applicant's high school transcript through the first semester of their senior year.
(Applications are in downloadable Word format)

Recipients of YES Scholarships will be announced at the Annual YES Spring Conference which is typically held in March or April. The number of scholarships awarded will vary depending upon available funds; however, all finalists will be recognized at the Annual YES Conference.
